Thailand Travel Hints

Posted by admin on Aug 13 2009 | Uncategorized

Well now the prediction that the world economy has hit rock bottom and set to begin the long road to recovery is good news for us travellers it is time to start planning our next adventure so why not head to Thailand for a Christmas holiday or to meet that special Thai Girl.
Some hints I have picked up along the way having been in Thailand for some time and shared a beer with like minded travellers is that many people travelling to Asia bring suitcases full of unnecessary stuff and have to lug it around everywhere.
Bring a bag that you can throw over your shoulder, clothes here are cheap and more suitable for the Asian climate than the heavy western apparel come over with 2 changes of clothes thats it.
toiletries are cheap and available.
Electonics are not that cheap here so if you have a camera/camcorder and MP4 then bring them over.

Traffic congestion can be heavy in Bangkok and even though Taxis are cheap to dodge the traffic snarl ups you can use the Khlongs these are canals running through Bangkok they all have boats running passenger services they are fun to go on and a great way to get around Bangkok in the peak hour traffic, keep it in mind.

The price of alcohol and cigarettes has recently gone up so if you are a beer drinker you can soon clock up a sizable bar bill one thing I have noticed is a lot of westerners or farang as the Thais call us tend to drink Heineken or western beers while the locals brews are a lot cheaper and taste great some beers to keep in mind are Leo,Singha and Chang (also means elephant in Thai) there is also San Miguel a Philippines beer.
If you are a spirits drinker rather than Jack Daniel or Johnny Walker give Sam Song a Thai whisky a try at half the price.
With Accommodation through your home travel agent just get a couple of days enough time to relax and settle in then check out the local accommodation on offer there are nice rooms with aircon and cable TV a whole lot cheaper than you will find through a travel agent,if you like the back packer atmosphere go to Koh Sahn Road.
If you coming over to meet one of our lovely Thai women from Find love Asia bring a little gift from your own country if from Australia for example a soft Kangaroo or Koala they love those things as its a novelty and more of a personal gift than buying them some Thai nick Knack that they can get themselves.
If you are coming for a while and like to ring home set up your friends and family with Skype as overseas calls from here are rather pricey.
One recommendation I have is the Thai foot massage and The Thai massage they are great for a long day of walking and at 200-300 Baht well worth it.
Take you Thai girlfriend as well as most cannot afford it and never been to one.

Scuba Diving is a great adventure and Thailand is one of the most affordable places to do it I am looking at a advert here it offers 2 dives, fresh cooked lunch and drinks, western instructors and comfortable dive boat for 2000 Baht thats about 80 usd I paid $270 aud for one dive in Australia.

Spend a short time in Bangkok because Thailand is not the big city go out to the Islands or to the smaller towns and find the real magic of Thailand, some Islands are Koh Chang,Koh Samui,Phukett,Phi Phi and of course many smaller Islands to investigate.

come over and join us our Thai girls are lonely.
